I received this message from Louise McMullan at Equity. I expect many ning members already know of this via other routes but here's a reminder. On the same day the Parliamentary Committee on arts funding is considering the heritage side of things.
Tuesday 19th October
TUC Rally & Lobby Of Parliament
Against The Cuts
Assemble with fellow Equity members: 12.00
outside the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre
Followed
by Parliamentary Lobby: 14.30: Palace of Westminster
Funding
for the arts could be cut by between 25 and 40% in the Comprehensive
Spending Review going through Parliament on 20th October
2010.
Equity is providing a number of speakers at this important
rally the day before the Comprehensive Spending Review is debated in
Parliament and we would encourage you to attend to show that we have a
strong and united voice speaking out against the cuts at this crucial
time.
We have Equity placards and flags to distribute to those
attending and therefore ask you to assemble at 12.00 outside the Queen
Elizabeth Conference Centre, which is adjacent to Central
Hall.
If you want to take part in the Lobby which follows the
rally you need to arrange an appointment with your MP in advance by
calling your local constituency office. You can get contact details for
your constituency office by entering your postcode on http://www.parliament.uk/get-involved/contact-your-mp/when/
and following the link to your MP’s personal website. If you require
further assistance with contacting your MP please contact Equity’s
Policy Development Officer, Louise McMullan, on lmcmullan@equity.org.uk or
02076700260.
If you can’t make it along to the rally there is
still time to get involved in the campaign. Contact saveourtheatres@equity.org.uk
to get your supply of Theatre works, Don’t Wreck It! postcards to
distribute to fellow members and friends. These postcards ask MPs to
vote against cuts to the arts and give key facts about why these cuts
are bad for the UK economy.
Thank you for your
support
