ACE faces heavy criticism from Select Committee

Arts Council heavily criticised and arts community accused of ’scaremongering’ during heated inquiry into funding of arts and heritage by the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.

Arts and culture bodies in cuts appeal to Cameron

From BBC News:



The leaders of Britain's most prominent cultural bodies are to appeal directly to the prime minister not to cause irreparable damage to the arts.

The coalition government has asked all major arts funding bodies to show how they would manage cuts of 25% or 30%.

Culture minister Ed Vaizey has said everybody has to take their share of cuts.

Arts Council England will join organisations like the National Theatre and Tate to make the appeal later.

I’ve been reading the contributions to the debate on cuts to

arts sector funding and the huge changes we suspect will be coming our way once the comprehensive spending review is completed and implemented in the autumn. For what they are worth here are a few reflections from an arts administrator who lived through thelast cut and burn economic policy.
