How best to protect the whole ecology? #Brewhouse #Artsfunding

What happened at the Brewhouse was clearly a terrible blow for the town, the staff and their audiences. But also for the whole wider arts ecology and infrastructure. Somerset County Council Meeting Arts Protest at Taunton Conference Centre, Somerset Collage Campus

November 1, 2010 all day
We have heard today that Somerset County Council’s Cabinet will be meeting on Monday 1 November to discuss a budget proposal to stop ALL funding for the Arts in Somerset as from 2011/12. Decisions will be ratified at a full council meeting on the 10th November. We want as many people as possible, not just those of us working in the arts, to be aware of this. As the information has only just be announced, no formal campaign strategy has been devised yet. And there’s not much time. In the first…See More

Olympics Ceremonies...

Worth reading Jeremy Hunt's blog here about his dinner with Danny Boyle and Stephen Daldry - worth reminding him too that they both started their respective careers in the subsidised theatre sector.

Hi Marcus
This is one of the sites that facilitated the Digital Economy Bill campaign enabling people to easily find their local MP and send a personal letter.
http://www.38degrees.org.uk/page/speakout/extremeinternetl

7000 people did this in two days according to this article
http://www.dontdisconnect.us/7000-people-write-to-their-mps-to-voice-objections-about-debill-in-two-days/

I'm just thinking about how to facilitate wider constituency support (eg arts audience) in a straight forwards way
