Tis the Season to be Merry?

Yesterday saw the announcement of significant uplifts for many of ACW's portfolio of clients with an average uplift of c. 20%. Big winners include National Theatre Wales who bag an extra £335,000 (its sister Welsh language equivalent Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru languishes at standstill) and newcomers to the portfolio including NoFit State Circus who get a kick start of £200K. Not too may surprises in there with uplifts for previous Beacon Award status companies consolidating their previous grants…See More

Welsh Assembly announce Draft budget cuts

The Draft Budget and ACW's response can be found here: http://www.artswales.org.uk/5743.Basically a 4% cut over 3 years for its budget for arts programme plus a 12% cut over 3 years on ACW running costs.Direct support will continue to be given by WAG to Wales Millennium Centre.So a sigh of relief from many and a definite vote of confidence from WAG for ACW's Investment Review process - plus the success, one suspects, of the behind the scenes work…See More

The cuts in Wales

The Welsh Assembly Government has been given the option to implement cuts this year, or to defer them to 2011/12.


No decision has been made and this leaves ACW and its clients in a state of continued flux.


If Wales needs to make cuts on a similar level to England and WAG implements cuts this year this translates as a cut in this financial year of £1.25m. Not an easy amount to find.
