Hi all,
I need your help, or your ideas, and your participation.
I'm a champion of the arts and believe that the public should be able to access the rich array of culture that is on offer to them in the extensive collections of art and the musical talents that exist in the UK.
There is a danger that arts funding cuts could lead to 'mothballing' collections, i.e taking them into hibernation. This is wrong; people should not be deprived of their cultural heritage.
I am spearheading a campaign to make art available to everyone, any time.
This means a nationwide art co-operation profect between galleries or any venues who might have spare rooms available to house art and put it on public display wiht the help of private sponsoring bodies and the invidals with the drive to volunteer their time and publicity resources to bring art to the people.
It is named simply 'Artspace'.
'
I need to know if you are willing to give time to this idea and help create a network of contacts who might me able to share art in this way. It requires marketing, funding, sponsoring and volunteer curators to make something like this work, but those who believe in arts for the people should see it as a worthwhile project by which to stop a drought of art on display for free (or donationa) for the public.
Please contact me at katy.s.a@hotmail.co.uk or
http://twitter.com/katysaustin if you can help get this off the ground further.
Many thanks,
Katy
(This campaign is currently in its very first stages, so by joining you are becoming a pioneer not jumping on any bandwaggon. I hope this makes you excited at the potential for your own contribution rather than sceptical of getting involved).
